If I can find some way to use an RSS feed in the program, I can publish an RSS feed of all releases (would require a slight restructure of the website though) - and hopefully that means I can use STE to check if the latest entry to the RSS feed equals the same version number of the STE that is running or not… if the version numbers don't match, it should just show a dialog asking the user if they want to upgrade or not (they'd still have to manually download and unzip it )

arent there programs that automatically update, klike vlc when it downloads the files from a database unzips it and overwrites the files?

That has been added in to version 1.21 — I decided not to check for updates automatically because it drastically slowed down launching STE and made it take forever to load. Instead, just use the "Check for updates" option in the Help menu to check manually (instead of needing to check this website)

can you make it ask you if you want to download it and when you click on yes it will open the default browser to the download page?

I can do one better… I can make it ask you for a folder and then download it directly, and ask if you want to be redirected to the homepage to view the announcement (opening the release thread directly is a bit trickier).

I've removed the _done tag from this thread, so now I'll see this when I'm looking for something else to add to the program :)

if it is installed will it be able to detect the OS and download the correct file?
