what about Notepad++ it keeps the text file directly in it even if the file is deleted

when you go on notepad++ you can open multiple files you see them like tabs in most browsers, if you delete the original files those tabs are not deleted

Well STE would act the same I'd expect. The only time the file is used is when opening it.

For saving, it just overwrites any file with the exact same file path as the one you opened (which is the older version of the same document). If the document doesn't exist because you deleted it after opening it in STE, it should still save…

oh i didnt know it could do that but is it possible for it to keep the files even if ste is closed?

Have it remember what text was in there, even if you never saved? Yes, I could probably do that - I'd store it as a String in the same way I store the name of the theme that you are currently using. So definitely possible.
