Wish there was a way to change the default window size/position

**STE **

Because some of the toolbar buttons get cut off on Linux (Ubuntu), I want to be able to change the default window size.

Or possibly, allow toolbar icons to wrap to a second row if they don't all fit in? Not sure if that's possible though…

Edit: And a way to change the window position would be great as well, as suggested by Ed.

What about grouping buttons like Wikidot does? Hover over a button to expose the related buttons. Photoshop has been doing that for years too. Or, insert a "twistie" to open and close multiple rows of toolbar buttons.

Included page "inc:signature" does not exist (create it now)

Not sure if that's possible either, at least - not in the same way that Wikidot does it. Will need to look into it.

Not sure what you mean by this? Could you post a screenshot or some other example?

So the options so far (that I need to look into to see if they're viable):

  • Automatically make toolbar buttons overlap to a second row if they don't fit inside the window
  • Group related buttons (e.g. all heading buttons) - but if you resize the window small enough buttons will still disappear off the side
  • Use the "twistie" idea (whatever that is… :D)

I found this quote that best describes what I mean.

Twisties, otherwise known as “Disclosure Triangles” are little triangles (►) that twist (▼) when clicked to hide or show content.

My Droid Incredible uses these all over the place (awesome phone, BTW! But I digress…)

Think in terms of a collabsible block. I'm thinking 2 buckets for the icons: primary and secondary. The twistie would act as a toggle to expose or hide the secondary bucket. Since there's potential for so many icons, an option to make the button bar a floating toolbox would be nice too. If not floating, maybe set up left/right/top/bottom options. Since most monitors these days are wide screen, I like to position toolbars full of buttons on the left or right rather than the top or bottom.

Something I haven't given any thought to yet, but might make sense to consider is to place the various toolbar buttons into categories like inline, modules (grouped like the documentation page?), etc. I'll think about it some more and see if I can mock up a layout to better describe what I mean.

Another idea I'm not sure if even possible ;-) Will have to look into this idea a bit more as well.

As for the toolbar… it's already movable to the left/right/bottom or unattached completely… in case you didn't notice :)
