I agree with all but this bullet point. I would not add any "auto extension" logic to the all files filter. If I want to use the editor to create/edit other "plain text" files (*.bat, *.csv, *.whatever or *<no extension>), then I would be annoyed that I might have to rename the file after saving it. Maybe I'm reading it too literally, but it says to me that if I try saving myfile.bat while in "all files" mode, then I'll end up with myfile.bat.ste (not the desired result).
