Yes, I agree. That's SOP (standard operating procedure) for most apps. That was one thing I noticed yesterday and had on my list of things to report once I get organized.

What else is on the list? :O

*dreads the flood of bug reports coming in over the next few days*

Nothing really serious. More user interface suggestions. I assume you'd prefer separate threads for each item rather than a list in one thread. I'm off to play golf this afternoon, but will post a few things in the next day or two.

Yes, separate threads would be great. That way I can look at the list of threads and pick one to work on, then mark just that one as done.

This now works in the latest test build.

Please check that this sounds right and let me know if it needs to be changed:

  • If file filter is Text files only (txt) and the file doesn't have txt as the extension, txt is added.
  • If file filter is STE files only (ste) and the file doesn't have ste as the extension, ste is added.
  • If file filter is Accepted file types (ste, txt) and the file doesn't have either ste nor txt, ste is added.
  • If file filter is All Files and the file doesn't have either ste nor txt, ste is added.

I agree with all but this bullet point.

I would not add any "auto extension" logic to the all files filter. If I want to use the editor to create/edit other "plain text" files (*.bat, *.csv, *.whatever or *<no extension>), then I would be annoyed that I might have to rename the file after saving it.

Maybe I'm reading it too literally, but it says to me that if I try saving myfile.bat while in "all files" mode, then I'll end up with myfile.bat.ste (not the desired result).

Yes, that's exactly what would happen with the current set up.

I'll remove the auto-filter for "All Files" then. In hindsight, that makes the most sense as well.

Edit: Done.
