Thanks for the suggestions! I'm working on fixing that right now :)

Thanks. I'm not very good with image editing, so I grabbed a few images off Google search (probably some are copyrighted… but I'll pretend I didn't know that), and made some small changes (transparency, merging images together, cropping) to get the ones I'm showing on the home page now.

If anyone has some images that they think look even better (and are CC or otherwise free to use), feel free to suggest them :)

Thanks !
This was exact the missing information!

the second step: could be some links behind the images ( they are good! ) - leading to the about - paragraphs.. which holds a summary over the usages anyway.
The idea is - what does the first visit show to a newcomer and how easy can s/he be linked to more information?

Third: what is important at the home page in the overviews? ( i have no idea at the moment to make it better)

Well done leiger!

PS: the "free usage" - is this not limited in the future ? After you and some others have a lot of functions created with the API ?

regards
Helmut

For the foreseeable future STE will be completely free to use. I have considered launching a "Pro" option, but dismissed it as to be honest I'd rather give this kind of thing away for free.

Thanks !

Glad you like the home page. Without you telling me about the problem in the first place, I would never have realised that it was lacking something that important … so thank you for posting the bug report!

I'll look into the possibility of making the images into links as well, but the about page isn't exactly set up for that yet. I'll need to rearrange it a bit and add a few anchors first. Thanks again for the ideas and suggestions :)

Not sure what you are asking here?

How about a PayPal Donate -button instead?

Well if people are willing to donate… sure! I will look into it.
