OK, I do hope this is a bug.

This morning I found two Preview pages in art2 category of my site, that shouldn't be there. I supposed that I made them inintentionally last night while I was playing with STE program. The odd thing is that the selected category is the one I would never chose to play with since it is a public category of my site. But, I thought I maybe I pressed few buttons i shouln't have and that's it.

BUT!!!!!

Right now I am looking at ANOTHER page art2:87 The history says I created it at 1.20. THIS IS IMPOSSIBLE, since I know I haven't created any page at all at that time, and especially because I was at work at that time and I don't have STE at my work computer. The content of this page is the same as of the previous two: Start page I downloaded to my STE, and then uploaded when I was trying to repeat what Ed did at my site.

WHO is creating pages at my site, with MY account, and WITHOUT my knowledge?

Am I attacked by some virus, or some hacker, or what?

I post this here first, in order to see if it has anything to do with STE program. If not, then I will post it in the Community Forum.

I would appreciate very much if somebody could answer me ASAP.

Thanks in advance!
B.

I don't think anyone has hacked your site. If your name is attached to the history of those pages, then I think you did create them without realizing it. Look at your STE setup and make sure you don't have the art2 category set up for your preview category. When STE does a preview, it creates a page in the category you have defined with a random page number from 1-100. That's why you see the odd page names. I would reconfigure STE's preview settings back to the default as shown here.

I don't know what to say about the time stamp. That might be a bug in the API. I would also not use the preview function unless you really need it. I find it just as easy to export the page and view it live on the site and then edit it as necessary.

I reviewed my STE setting, and effectively, I did have art2 as a preview category. I removed both category and site unis name, and I hope it won't happen again.

But I am really curious to know what actually happened…

I don't think this is a bug - and was the result of the settings you had put into STE. The way previews work needs an overhaul.

And that's not a good thing :) It indicates just how bad the preview function is at the moment.

Then how do you explain the creation of ANOTHER art2 page AFTER I had deleted the Preview settings, at the time when I am at work, and not at home with my computer switched off? I am sorry, but I think I'll delete the STE from my computer… :(

That doesn't sound right, but it is impossible for STE to do anything when it's not running/ being used.

I assume only you know your API key? You haven't given it to anyone else, or posted any screenshots where the API key was visible?

Of course not. I used it only for STE to see how it works… Well, today I think there were no more pages, We shall see what happens in the next few days…
