Copying an idea directly from TI-Basic Developer (another Wikidot site), I think that it would be useful to add a character drop-down to the site with some commonly-used characters for Mac users (because Mac users are so special, they have their own unique modifier keys with hard-to-type symbols).

For example, these could be included:

  • Shift key (⇧)
  • Control key (˄)
  • Alt/Option key (⎇)
  • Command key (⌘)

Features:

  • Disabled by default, opt-in on a per-user basis
  • Floats in one corner of the screen, so that it is always visible even if you scroll down the page
  • I'd release it as a re-usable code snippet so that it can be used on other Mac-friendly sites (e.g. RoaringApps.com by bcammobcammo)

Requirements:

  • Only symbols that are viewable on Windows and Linux will be used, as I don't want ugly "character-not-found" square boxes appearing for those visitors
  • Enough people saying that they'd use the feature to make it worthwhile adding (I estimate max. 20 minutes to implement on website)

Would you use this?

Included page "inc:signature" does not exist (create it now)
