I have tested this with Mac OS X Snow Leopard (10.6.3), and it works fine. Tested the following:

• Opening files
• Saving files
• Disabling Line-Wrapping
• Statistics
• Moving the toolbar around
• Closing the toolbar (thus making it reappear in it's original position)

It works great :)

Just steal the image and upload it to your screenshots page to demonstrate cross-platform compatibility (I'm assuming you're using the [[gallery]] module).

I'm thinking about changing the way the screenshots page works, so that I can add a short description to each image.

Do you know of a way to insert an image that will appear similarly to how the [[image ...]] syntax works (so I can put it anywhere in the page), but clicking on it should lead to a light-box style preview?

I'm thinking something like this:

etc.

I tried to create a Light Box manually (through creating an identical <div> structure) but it requires the use of javascript embedded into the page (damn).

So I'm guessing that's a negative :(

I'll have a look around in Google and see if I can find something similar to what I want then. It's not as ideal as using Wikidot syntax due to needing an iframe, etc … but there should be something out there that does what I want :)

Thanks for posting the error message. From what I can tell that means that you need to update your Java Runtime Environment (JRE).

Only the latest version of the JDK (Java Development Kit) supported the code I am using the launch editor.wikidot.com directly from the app (it wasn't available in earlier versions), so it seems you need to be running the latest version of the JRE to run the application.

You can download it using the link on this page.

I'll try to find a way to show a more useful error message when that happens though. If you could, please hold off on updating for now, and help me to test the next version of the editor which should have a more useful error message when the user has an older version of the JRE installed.

Also, could you please type this into your console and tell me what it says?

java -version

I tried downgrading to jre1.5.0_22 on my machine (Windows 7) but it still seemed to work, so either I didn't go back far enough, didn't do the downgrade properly (v6 was still there so it might have been running off that), or this is a Mac-only issue. I compiled STE using jdk1.6.0_20.

Could I ask that anyone that's taken screenshots so far, do it again but have the Help > About dialog open? That says both the version number that you're taking a screenshot of, as well as the Operating System you're using (as of STE v1.10).

It keeps getting better! Here's a screenshot of it running on Mac OS X 10.6.0.

One suggestion - the new logo looks great, but it doesn't show as the icon of the application. Instead, it's just the default Java icon. Any way you can change this??

I can't wait for this to support the more complicated modules…

Thanks for the updated screenshot! James posted one for Mac but it was for one of the earliest versions.

The only problem I can find (other than it using the default Java icon) is that the buttons seem to have an extra, rectangle border around them. Don't think it matters much though - you didn't mention it so it probably isn't annoying enough for me to worry about removing anyway :)

Apparently yes, I can change that. It's just a matter of figuring out how ;-) I've found some potential solutions the last few times I was looking for an answer to this, but they haven't worked for one reason or another (e.g. not for JAR files). I'll try searching again for answers as I'd definitely like to fix this!

Two quick questions if you have time:

Q1: Did you try printing, and if you did were there any problems with it?

Q2: Although both ways to close a file in the File menu have always worked fine, I had issues with the main "X" close button. Please double-check that this works as expected:

1. Open STE
2. Load any file or type a few characters
3. Press the red "X" (or equivalent in Mac) to exit
4. Cancel the popup reminding you to save
5. It should return you back to the editor. When I first added that feature, it quit the application regardless of if I pressed "OK" or "Cancel" (ignored input and quit anyway).

Q1: Sorry, but I don't have a printer hooked up to my computer! I did press the print button though, and all seemed okay.

Q2: All seemed to work fine. The cancel button returned me to the doc, the ok button quit the app.
